J. Cole revealed that he was close to finishing his seventh studio album but didn’t reveal a release date. Cole and Drake took the stage at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, to launch their ‘It’s All a Blur – Big as the What?’ Tour on February 2, 2024.
Cole told the audience during his performance that he was almost finished with his much-awaited ‘The Fall Off’ album. On the opening night of the ‘It’s All a Blur – Big as the What?’ tour in Tampa, where he was with Drake, Cole said: “Right now, I’m at the tail-end of working on this album I’ve been working on for a long time. It’s called The Fall Off.”
He then performed a verse from Lil Yachty’s ‘The Secret Recipe’ for the concert-goers. To further heighten the anticipation, Drizzy hinted that he had previously heard J. Cole’s upcoming album and declared it to be “a classic.”
The announcement of Cole’s upcoming album follows a successful run of features in 2023, which included ‘The Secret Recipe’ by Lil Yachty, ‘First Person Shooter’ by Drake, ‘All My Life’ by Lil Durk, and ‘Let Me Calm Down’ by Nicki Minaj. Cole announced more music was on the way with ‘To Summer, From Cole,’ the lead track from Summer Walker’s new ‘Clear 2: Soft Life EP,’ released in May 2023.
The song includes a soft hook from Walker and Cole’s verse, similar to the inspirational verse Cole wrote about acceptance at the end of Logic’s ‘AfricAryaN.’
In the song, he raps:
I’m thinkin’ about ya, I heard you just had you another lil baby
Congratulations, I hope you got through it with no complications
I find it amazing, the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame, the bitches that’s hatin’
They sit around waiting for you to fall off like the album I’m making
Although Cole’s record release date is unknown, fans will have plenty of opportunities to see him live. The ‘It’s All a Blur — Big As the What?’ tour will go across the United States, stopping in places including Nashville, St. Louis, Buffalo, New Orleans, and more.
In December, Drake discussed plans to take his live show outside the United States during a Kick livestream with Roshtein. He told the host: “I think I’m going to tour in Europe. Oh, that’s maybe an exclusive, yeah, oh, I’m definitely going on a Europe tour next year. we obviously have a tour coming up January.”
J. Cole and Drake have enjoyed massive success with their No. 1 single ‘First Person Shooter.’ The duo revealed in November 2023 that they would be going on a road trip for the upcoming year, marking the next logical step in their partnership. Drake announced the next stop of his ‘It’s All a Blur’ tour in mid-November 2023. J. Cole will accompany him on 18 of the 22 performances on the tour.
Produced by Live Nation, the highly anticipated tour is sponsored by Cash App and Visa. Cash App has recently been heavily involved in arena rap, including the rapper’s latest tour, a commercial featuring Kendrick Lamar aired between performances.
